HoI4's only saving throw is Kaiserreich, and that's a mod. I'll be honest, I have not enjoyed anything released after EU4. It's probably why I have over 1500 hours in it. There's an extreme amount of things to do and try out. The DLC scheme has honestly overstayed its welcome, but that doesn't change the fact that EU4 is one of the most content-packed games out there. Some people also suggest Brazil as a starting nation because its isolated and relatively powerful compared to other South American Nations. It has loads of resources, you won't have to deal with supply issues until late game and the numerous wars you'll be fighting will teach you how to manage and conduct large scale military operations. It's one of the best military simulations out there and while it can be a bit intimidating at first you'll eventually get the hang of it.Īs your first country I'd suggest Germany. Hearts of Iron 3 really isn't that complicated once you understand how the Order of Battle and Supply systems work.
